Caldwell County to Open 7th District Volleyball Tourney on Home Floor

Madisonville-North Hopkins is the No. 1 seed in the 7th District Volleyball Tournament that begins Monday at Caldwell County.

The 6:00 semifinal match features the host Lady Tigers and Hopkins County Central. Madisonville will play the winner in the championship on Tuesday at 6:00.

Caldwell County (15-10) is the two-time defending district champion and has won 16 titles in the past 18 years. The Lady Tigers have won six straight for first-year coach Emily Oliver, entering the postseason.

Caldwell is led at the net by Chevy McGowan (151 kills) and Med Thomas (122 kills), while Kylee White has 526 assists this season and 1,845 for her career to go with 68 aces.

Caldwell County has won 29 straight matches against Hopkins County Central and leads the all-time series 55-1.

The Lady Storm (4-22) gave Madisonville its only district loss on Sept. 23.

Aalycia Stringer (119 kills) and Calajia Mason (101 kills) lead at the net, while Tori Crick has 141 assists.

Hopkins County Central has appeared in the district championship four times and is still looking for its first title.

Madisonville-North Hopkins (16-18) awaits the semifinal winner in Tuesday’s championship.

Leah Moody (209 kills and 166 assists) and Sadie Kirk (154 kills) lead the Lady Maroons at the net, and Cadence Curry has 408 assists and a team-high 70 aces.

Moody’s career stat line shows 548 kills, 251 assists, 300 aces, and 937 digs.

The district winner and runner-up will advance to next week’s region tournament at Hopkins County Central.
