Boyd played five seasons of college basketball at three different schools — and nearly added a fourth.
He redshirted his first year at Georgetown College before playing two seasons with the NAIA school.
Boyd then spent two seasons at Lipscomb University in Nashville before playing last season at the College of Charleston.
Boyd entered the transfer portal at the end of his one year with the Cougars.
According to a report by Sportico, Vanderbilt had made a $350,000 NIL offer to the 25-year-old 6-foot-3 guard. However, a U.S. District Judge ruled against another year of eligibility for Boyd.
Sportico reported that Boyd earned $120,000 in NIL money last year at the College of Charleston
The 2019 Caldwell grad was a third-team All-Coastal Athletic Association selection at Charleston in the 2024-25 season, averaging 13.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists for a team that finished 24-9.
