
Webster County put a pair of runners in the top five and came in fourth place at Saturday’s Class 2A Region 1 cross country meet at Logan County High School.
As a result, the Trojans qualified for the state meet.
Landon Higdon came in fourth place in a time of 16:59, while Maddox Hibbs was fifth in 17:36.
Liam Ferris captured a 26th-place finish in 19:21 while Efrain Juan, who did double duty with the Trojans’ soccer team, was 30th in 19:34.
Daan Wiley finished in 33rd place in 19:43, while Eli Stone was 38th in 20:15 and Harley Velaquez was 41st in 20:36.
Webster County finished six points behind both Paducah Tilghman and Logan County. who tied for second place. The Trojans were 20 points ahead of 5th-place Trigg County.
Union County’s Tristan Coy won the race in a time of 16:17.
The Trojans will compete in the Class 2A State Meet at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington on Saturday, with the race expected to begin at 12.30.
