
A pair of Hopkinsville seniors closed out their cross country careers with finishes in the top 55 on Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
Lauren Mayes finished in 49th place at the Kentucky Beef Council Class 2A State Meet with a time of 22:02 over the rolling 3.1-mile course.
Saturday was her fifth appearance at the state meet. She finished 18th last year and 51st as a sophomore.
Alexis Herrera-Lovato came in 55th place in 22:10 after running a personal best time at last week’s region meet.
She ran 10 seconds faster than her time last year when she finished in 46th place at the state meet.
Junior Kaydon Coats made her fourth state meet run, finishing in 150th place in 25:27.
Amerah Acree finished in 177th place in 27:08, and Luanna Acree came in 216th place in 31:23.
Evelyn Bangart, Hopkinsville’s No. 4 runner who finished 31st at the region meet, began the race for Hopkinsville but did not finish due to an injury.
Thomas Nelson’s Baili Holten pulled away late for the win in 18:32.
Hopkinsville finished 21st as a team with 551 points in the program’s final race.
