Hopkins County Central sophomore Landon Posey gritted out his cross country season that was dotted with health issues and culminated with Saturday’s state meet run.
Posey finished 42nd at last year’s state meet and appeared poised to build on that in 2025. However, a health issue caused him to run in just three races in the first five weeks of the season.
A sixth-place finish at the region meet qualified him for Saturday’s Kentucky Beef Council Class 2A State Meet in Lexington, but he wasn’t able to duplicate his region run and finished 203rd with a time of 21:08 over the 3.1-mile course.
Posey is hoping to get things squared away for the spring outdoor track and field season, where he qualified for last season’s state meet in the 1600-meter run.
