For a stretch now of 15 years, things have not gone well when the Fort Campbell Falcons square off against the Owensboro Catholic Aces, be it in the regular season or in the Kentucky football playoffs. The Falcons are hoping for a chance to turn those tables and shock the football world Friday night as they head up to Steele Stadium for a first-round playoff game against the Aces.

The last two seasons, Owensboro Catholic was a district game for the Falcons. In 2024, the Falcons were limited to just 160 total yards in a 50-0 loss on post. The year before, the Aces gave up just 23 total yards on the way to a 56-7 district win in Owensboro.

The last playoff meeting between the Falcons and the Aces came on November 4, 2022. The Falcons were held to -7 rushing yards and 96 total yards as Owensboro Catholic picked up a 54-8 win.

Fort Campbell’s last win in the series was back in 2009. That season, the Falcons powered to a 53-0 win over the Aces on the way to an unbeaten season and a Class 2A state championship. Antonio Andrews ran for three touchdowns and passed for two others in the win.

The Falcons’ playoff run effectively began last week, as they took on Trigg County in a rescheduled district contest, where the winner got in and the loser went home for the winter. The Falcons came from behind and knocked off the Wildcats 47-32 at Fryar Stadium.

The Falcon offense is led by the running of Keshawn Dixon, who has picked up 1396 yards for the season. Fort Campbell averages 180 rushing yards per game and will likely need to go over that to have a chance against the explosive Catholic offense. Keeping the ball away from the Aces will be an important part of a plan to slow them down.

Fort Campbell also has the big-play ability of J.P. Perryman. Perryman has 7 receiving touchdowns and has returned two kickoffs for scores.

The Aces come into the game at 9-1 with the only loss coming to Owensboro, 34-21. O-Cath averages 41.5 points per game and gives up just 13.7 points.

Aces quarterback Dremail Catothers has passed for 2624 yards and 33 touchdowns. Eleven of those 33 passes have been caught by Xavier Maddox. On the ground, O-Cath is led by Miles Edge, who has 738 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The Aces’ defense is no slouch as Owensboro Catholic has forced 20 turnovers this season, 11 fumbles, and 9 interceptions.

Kickoff Friday night is set for 7pm at Steele Stadium in Owensboro,
