
Caldwell County sophomore Pax Aikins poured in 25 points as the Tigers won their first preseason scrimmage on Saturday.
Caldwell pulled out a close one at Ballard Memorial, defeating the Bombers 59-55.
Daelyn Lander added 13 points for the Tigers. Ari Wells had nine.
Caldwell trailed 15-14 after one quarter, but the contest was tied 23-23 at halftime.
Ballard led 41-38 through three quarters, but the Tigers outscored the Bombers 21-14 in the final frame.
Caldwell also got three points each from Mitchell Phelps and Jayden Taylor. Kese Wilson and Garner Stallins each scored two points.
For Ballard, Ike Miller had 19 points and Grayson Sparacio finished with 16.
Caldwell’s final preseason scrimmage will be next Saturday at Crittenden County. The Tigers will face the host Rockets along with Fulton City and Hickman County.
Caldwell opens the regular season at home on Monday, Dec. 1, against Murray.
