Stephanie Stallins has been named the athletic director at Heritage Christian Academy.
The school announced on Wednesday. Candy Hayes has been serving as interim athletic director since Matt McGowan left earlier this year to become basketball coach and athletic director at Cornerstone Christian in Shelbyville.
“She brings experience to the position as both a former college athlete and a former high school coach of multiple sports,” said HCA Headmaster John Walsh, who added that Hayes will remain in the athletic department in an advisory capacity.
Stallins teaches in both the middle school and high school at HCA. She was a standout basketball player at Webster County and later at Brescia University. Stallins was the Second Region Player of the Year in 1999 and helped lead Webster County to a pair of state tournament appearances. She later was the head girls’ basketball coach at Caldwell County.
“The board and administration of HCA would like to express its heartfelt appreciation to Mrs. Hayes for helping the program during the time of transition between athletic directors,” Walsh said.
