Todd County Central girls basketball coach Nick Suttle enters his 4th season at the helm of the Lady Rebel program looking to replace a significant piece of the team from last year, but still with some parts in place to have another winning season and to make a run to the 4th Region tournament for the third straight season.

The Lady Rebels came within an eyelash of knocking off Bowling Green in the first round of the region tournament last year, falling 37-35, after meeting the Lady Purples the year before in the regional championship game.

A big part of both of those seasons is now in college after the graduation of Alexis Taylor, who averaged 17.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game for Todd County Central last season. The good news for Suttle and Lady Rebels fans is that the team returns several players that saw action in at least 20 games last season.

Any look at this year’s Lady Rebels has to start with the trio JaMya Kay, Daymea Garrett, and Kathryn Ballard, who all have the abilities to make some ‘blockbuster’ moments of their own for Todd County Central during the 2025-2026 season. That group would have been a quartet, however Jordyn Shemwell transferred prior to the start of the season.

Kay averaged 12.3 points and 6.9 rebounds for the Lady Rebels last season. On offense, her first step is as explosive as any player in the 4th Region, often times allowing her to beat defenders to the basket for the layup, the foul, or both. Defensively, she can cause all kinds of chaos and create opportunities for the Lady Rebels to get out on the break, where they are at their best.

Daymea Garrett saw action in 27 games last season for the Lady Rebels, averaging 5.5 points and 2.0 rebounds per game. With the graduation of Taylor down in the paint, Todd County Central will need Garrett to become a bigger part of things on both ends of the floor this season.

The same can also be said for Kathryn Ballard, who played in 28 games for the Lady Rebels last year. Ballard averaged 3.4 points and 4.1 rebounds and is not afraid to go down in the paint and mix things up.

After those three, it is youth movement for the Lady Rebels, who will have seven freshman and seven 8th graders on the roster. Quick development from at least a handful of the youngsters would give Coach Suttle some depth to work with as the season gets rolling. Suttle says watch for freshman Cara Higgins to be one of the younger players to step up early on.

The schedule will have some tests for the Lady Rebels. Home games include matchups with Christian County, Madisonville, defending region champ Franklin-Simpson, and South Warren. On the road, Todd Central will face Muhlenberg County, Warren East, Greenwood, Warren Central, and Christian County.

The Lady Rebels will also take part in the State Farm 4th Region Challenge and the Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic. Their opening game in the 4th Region All A Classic will find them on the road against Clinton County.

The season for Todd County Central officially opens December 2nd on the road at Clarksville Northwest.
