Christian County finished in seventh place at the West Creek Coyote Wrestling Classic on Saturday in Clarksville.
Dane Miller began his season with the championship in the 144-pound class. In his first four matches, he pinned his opponents three times and won by a 10-0 major decision in the other.
He defeated Logan Woodard of Clarksville Northeast 10-2 in the championship match.
Deacon Harrison came in second in the 157-pound class. He used a pair of technical falls and a pin to advance to the championship, where he lost to West Creek’s Ty Hutchins.
Anthony Velasco finished in third place in the 113-pound class. He lost a 9-2 decision in the semifinals but came back to win two matches by decision for his final placement.
DeAsian Harris came in third place in the 190-pound class. He lost his first match to West Creek’s Alexander Serrano with a second-round pin.
He then bounced back to win five straight matches and defeated Serrano 17-1 in the third-place match.
Treshawn Crenshaw came in fourth place at 285. He finished three and two on the day and won two of his three matches by decision.
Hunter Jorgenson went 1-2 in the 120-pound class. His lone win came by a pin in 55 seconds.
Braylan Patla won his first two matches in high-scoring affairs. He defeated Ahmire Lay of Kenwood 17-12 and John Hardin’s Bruce Anderson 18-16.
His first loss came in the quarterfinal, and his day ended in the consolation round in a 17-16 loss to Ryker Henth of Station Camp, Tennessee.
Malachi James won a pair of matches in the 106-pound class and fell by a 9-7 decision in the second consolation round.
Joshua Cahoon won his first two matches in the 165-pound class. He lost two of his next three to just miss getting to the medal podium.
Markee Atwell won his first match in the 138-pound class but lost his next two.
Jalen Sowerby wrestled in the 150-pound class, Brodie Smith wrestled at 175, and Cayden Hayden wrestled in the 215-pound class.
Christian County finished in seventh place in the 27-team field. Their score of 135 was a point and a half behind sixth-place Green Hills and 16.5 points ahead of eighth-place Caldwell County.
Meanwhile, Avah Miller put together a strong match for the second straight week, finishing in third place in the 185-pound class for the ladies.
She won her first two matches by pin before falling in the semifinals. She bounced back to pin her next two opponents for the third-place finish.
DeNaejahi Allen went 1-2 in the 107-pound division, and her season record stands at 3-3.
Rhyn Trahan advanced to the second round of the consolation bracket in the 126-pound class, where she fell by fall in the second period.
Saoirse Brandenberg also advanced to the second round of the consolation bracket in the 152-pound class and fell in the second period.
Christian County’s girls finished 17th.
