Caldwell’s Girls Climb Above .500 with Win at Dawson

Wins on back-to-back nights have the Caldwell County Lady Tigers above .500 for the first time this season.

Caldwell’s girls followed up a 51-47 victory at Hopkinsville on Thursday with a 53-25 triumph Friday in 7th District action at Dawson Springs.

Caldwell (3-2 overall, 1-1 district) used a balanced offensive attack. Tink Clark led the way with 11 points while three other players finished with nine. Med Thomas had nine points and eight rebounds. Gia Whitaker and Audrey McCoy also had nine points apiece. Ke’Darriah Thompson had a team-high 12 rebounds and four points.

Dawson Springs (0-3, 0-2) led 6-4 early behind 3-pointers from Briley Sawyer and Alyssa Allison.

But Caldwell scored the next 16 points ­— part of a 30-1 run that put the Lady Tigers in command 34-7 midway through the second period.

Caldwell led 36-12 at halftime and 45-17 through three quarters.

Sawyer and Emmie Colson each scored seven points to pace the Lady Panthers.

It is the 16th straight win for the Lady Tigers over the Lady Panthers. Caldwell has taken 31 of the last 32 meetings and leads the all-time series 93-10.

Dawson’s last win was a 54-45 decision in February of 2018.

The teams will meet again Jan. 20 in Princeton.

Next up for Caldwell is a trip to Hopkins County Central on Tuesday for even more 7th District action.

Dawson’s girls will host Madisonville-North Hopkins Tuesday in district play.
