
Anthony Velasco’s first place finish led six top-four finishers for the Christian County Colonel wrestling team at the 5 Star Classic hosted by Lexington Lafayette Saturday.
The Colonels’ performance carried them to a 3rd place team finish for the event.
Velasco won the 113 class, going 3-0 for the day. He defeated Wyatt Smith, of Wayne County, in the championship match.
Dane Miller was second in the 144 class. He was 3-1, losing to Jacob Brown, of Woodford County, in the championship match.
Treshawn Crenshaw finished second in the 285 class. Crenshaw was 3-1, losing to Maxx Escaloni, of Woodford County, in the title match.
Malachi James was fourth in the 106 class. He was 4-2, losing to Tanner Magee, of Grant County, in the third place match.
DeAsian Harris finished fourth in the 190 class. He was 3-2, losing to Frank Niyonyishu, of Henry Clay, in the third place contest.
Deacon Harrison took 4th place in the 157 class. He went 4-2 on the day, losing to Jake Holtgrave, of St. Xavier, in the third place match.
In the team competition, the Colonels piled up 133.5 points to take 3rd place. Madison Central won the team title with 180 points. Harrison County was second with 151 points.
