The Todd County Central Lady Rebels traveled to Murray High School to play in the Murray Bank Classic on Monday, and they played their first game against Ballard Memorial. They were unfortunately not able to get their second win of the season, as they went down 51-19 to the Lady Bombers.

Ballard got off to a very hot start with a 9-0 run to begin the first quarter, and the Lady Rebels’ first basket didn’t come until Cara Higgins banked in a three with just over three minutes left to play.

But after that, the only points in the quarter for either team was a Ballard three, which gave them a 12-3 lead at the end of the first.

The second quarter didn’t go much better for the Lady Rebels, as the Lady Bombers started the period with a couple more makes from beyond the arc. The only points Todd was able to get before halftime was two from Gracee Miller, and that led to a 17-point deficit for the Lady Rebels at the break.

They definitely picked up in the third quarter, scoring 11 points behind a combined eight from Daymea Garrett and Miller. But it was not enough to dig out of the hole they were in, and they went down 39-16 going into the final quarter.

Ballard started another quarter with a three-pointer, and after that they only needed to dribble out the clock and score a few more points to finish off the Lady Rebels 51-19.

Todd has faced off with the Lady Bombers five times in their history, but they have yet to get a win, losing to Ballard every time so far.

Three players scored five points for the Lady Rebels, those being Garrett, Higgins and Miller. Chloe Collins was also able to contribute four of her own.

Todd County Central plays their next game at the Murray Bank Classic against the St. Mary Lady Vikings.
