
Christian County’s girls wrestling team brought home a top-10 finish at Saturday’s Richey Rumble hosted by Caldwell County.
The Lady Colonels had three wrestlers finish in the top five, led by Avah Miller’s runner-up finish in the 165-pound class. Miller won her first two matches in the first round by pin and dropped a 7-6 decision in the championship match to West Creek’s Elizabeth Laurin.
Eighth grader Serenity Avalos wrestled at the varsity level for the first time this season and put together a 4-2 afternoon. She won three straight matches before falling to Kishelle Gray of Marion, Ill., in the third-place match.
Kira Caldwell came in fifth place in the 185-pound match. Her 3-2 day pushed her season record to 6-5.
Sophomore Rhyn Trahan also saw her first varsity action of the season and came in sixth place in the 126-pound class.
Christian County’s team score of 66 points was 19 points behind ninth-place Central Hardin and 7.5 points ahead of 11th-place Paducah Tilghman.
