Clinton County Overpowers Lady Rebels at 4th Region All A Classic

The Todd County Central Lady Rebels faced off against Clinton County in the 4th Region All A Classic, and it was the Lady Bulldogs who were able to get the win and advance to the next round with a 61-46 victory.

The Lady Rebels were able to score 13 points in the first quarter behind nine from Daymea Garrett, but it was not enough to keep them from going down by three after the first eight minutes.

The Lady Bulldogs once again scored 16 points in the second, and the time Todd County Central was only able to put up 11. Maliyah Merriweather scored six points in the quarter, and Kathryn Ballard got the other five.

Despite solid scoring quarters by a few players, the Lady Rebels still went into the halftime break down 32-24.

The third period was what got the Lady Rebels into a bit of trouble, as they were only able to muster eight points in the quarter. Half of those came from Madelyn Ballard, but the Lady Bulldogs were able to keep their consistent scoring going with 15.

After that, all it took was a 14-point fourth from Clinton County to put the game away and get the win 61-46 to advance to the next round.

The Lady Bulldogs will face off against Monroe County in the next round played at Cumberland County.

Garrett led the team in scoring with 15 points, while Chloe Collins also contributed nine of her own.

The Lady Rebels will be looking to bounce back and get their third win of the season against Franklin-Simpson on Friday, January 9. The game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. at Todd County Central High School.
