Trigg County’s cheerleading squad finished in 12th place at the KHSAA State Cheer Competition on Saturday in Winchester.

Trigg County’s score of 70.70 marked an improvement of 11.1 points over its region championship score from November.

Madison Central won the state title with a score of 92.60.

Trigg County was competing in the All-Girls Small Division, which comprises teams with 5 to 15 members.

It was Trigg County’s first season competing in the All-Girls Small Division and the first time competing at the KHSAA state since the sport was sanctioned in 2012-13.

Saturday’s state championship was originally scheduled for early December but was postponed due to bad weather in central Kentucky.
