
Dawson Springs overcame foul trouble in a back-and-forth contest at Community Christian on Tuesday to capture a 73-69 overtime victory. The win is the Panthers’ third in four outings and fifth in their last eight to improve to 5-9 overall.
A slow start saw Dawson Springs trailing 14-7 after the opening quarter, but Cooper Burge scored nine and Noah Riley and Jaydon Plunkette combined for 11 to help the Panthers outscore the Warriors 20-13 and tie the game at 27-27 going into halftime. Jonah Anderson carried the scoring load for Community Christian with 18 first-half points.
The teams couldn’t be separated over the final two quarters, with Easton Bourland scoring six in the third for the Panthers and CCA’s Brandon DeJarnatt erupting for 13. Jake Rambo and Harrison Poyner combined for 14 in the fourth for the Warriors to send the game to overtime.
Anderson capped a game-high 30-point night with 11 in OT for the Warriors, but Plunkette answered with nine and Burge added four to help the Panthers pull out the win. Dawson Springs were without the services of Bourland and Riley after both fouled out in the fourth, while Ethan Slaton also went to the bench with five fouls in overtime.
Anderson was joined in double figures by DeJarnatt with 17 and Poyner with 10 for CCA.
Burge finished with 22 for the Panthers, Plunkette had 20, Riley 12, and Bourland added 11.
Up next for Dawson Springs is a visit from Webster County on Thursday.
Community Christian slipped to 7-11 with its third loss in four outings.
