A strong defensive effort over the final three quarters was the key for the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors as they picked up their first win of the season Thursday evening. HCA held Chapel Hill Christian to single digits in the final three quarters on the way to a 44-27 win.
Chapel Hill led 13-11 after the first quarter but it was all Lady Warriors from there. HCA came back to take a 23-17 lead into the half.
While the offense struggled some in the third quarter, the Lady Warrior defense continued to shut down Chapel Hill. The quarter ended with HCA up 30-23.
Heritage then closed out with a strong finish in the fourth, limited Chapel Hill to just four points and pushing it on out to the final 17 point margin.
Ava DeJager was dominant inside for Heritage Christian. She finished the night with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Allison Craft added 9 points and 7 rebounds. Kynlee Henderson scored 8 points. Lexi Lyon had 5 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
