The Lyon County Lady Lyons took a chapter out of the boys’ playbook on Friday as they coasted to a 61-20 win over Trigg County at Jason White Gymnasium.
In the first game of the homecoming doubleheader, the boys’ team forced 31 turnovers and scored 44 points in the first quarter en route to a 95-28 win.
The Lady Lyons did much of the same in the nightcap as they turned 11 Lady Wildcat turnovers into 14 points as part of a 24-2 first-quarter run.
Trigg County’s first field goal of the game came with 6:40 left in the first half, and the Lady Wildcats found themselves down 35-7 at the break.

Both teams were playing without a starter. Lyon County’s Trinity Taylor turned her ankle in a win over Caldwell County on Tuesday, but said she would be good to go for the All A Classic next week.
Trigg County was without starter Alivia Norwood, who was sick.
Courtney Collins picked up the slack for the Lady Lyons as she scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds. Piper Cotham added 12 points and six assists, and Jenna Coursey had nine points and seven rebounds. Lily Coffman added eight points and eight rebounds.
Turnovers again plagued the Lady Wildcats, who committed 26 on Friday, resulting in 31 Lyon County points. Trigg County was also outrebounded for its second straight game, 34-23.
A.J. Navarro knocked down three 3-pointers to finish with nine points, Grinols scored six points and had a game-high 13 rebounds as the Lady Wildcats failed to have a double-digit scorer for the first time this season.
The win was Lyon County’s seventh straight in the series, and they lead the all-time series 92-42.
Lyon County will play Mayfield next Wednesday in the All A Classic State Tournament in Owensboro.
Trigg County returns home on Monday for the first of eight consecutive home games at Wildcat Gym. They’ll play Livingston Central, who lost to Crittenden County 61-14 on Friday.
