The Lyon County Lyons went into their home game against Crittenden County on Friday night having won their last nine games. Fortunately for them, they were able to take full advantage of their home floor and get the dominant 96-25 win for their 10th in a row.
By the time there were three minutes left in the first quarter, the Lyons had already built an 18-5 lead over the Rockets, and it grew all the way to 31-12 by the end of the first eight minutes.
Cooper Collins was a big reason for this lead growing as fast as it did, as he was able to get hot from beyond the arc make four three-pointers for 12 points.
The second quarter was more of the same for Lyon County, with Nolan Coffman being the catalyst this time around. He scored 11 in the period, and that led the team to go on a massive run to extend their lead.
That run was not ended until Crittenden was able to make a free throw after a technical, as well as a three-pointer. But none of that stopped Lyon from taking a 46-point lead into the half after a Coffman mid-range at the buzzer.
After the half, the starters did not touch the court, and the bench players were able to close the game out.
Jacob McDaniels made a pair of threes in the third quarter, and Jett Reddick was able to lead the team in the fourth with a couple of tough layups.
All of these players combined to help the team secure the victory at home with a dominant score of 96-25.
This is now the 20th time the Lyons have gotten the best of the Rockets, with the last win Crittenden got in the all-time series was back in January of 2020.
Despite playing just the first half, Coffman led the team in scoring with 17 points. Cooper Collins, Bray Kirk, and Carson Collins were all also able to get into double-digit points with their limited playing time.
The Lyons will be looking to get their 11th win in a row in their next game on Sunday, February 1, against Newport. The game will be played as part of the Kentucky All “A” Classic, and will tip off at 12:30 p.m.
