Colonels Wrestle to 8th Place at State 2A Duals

The Christian County wrestling team came in eighth place at the Kentucky Wrestling Coaches Class 2A State Duals Tournament on Saturday in Corbin.

The Colonels entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed and opened with a 66-18 win over Franklin County.

Christian County lost to No. 4 Harrison County 55-15 in the second round and followed with a 37-35 loss to No. 8 Moore and a 42-34 loss to No. 6 Fairdale.

Colonel wrestlers who completed a 4-0 day in their weight class were Anthony Velasco and Treshawn Crenshaw. Going 3-1 were Malachi James, Dane Miller, Paul Abren, Deacon Harrison, and DeAsian Harris.

Paducah Tilghman brought home the state 2A title for the fourth straight year.

Christian County now prepares for the Region I Tournament on Saturday, February 21, at Henderson County. The Colonels finished third at the region last year.
