Christian County High School honored the final senior class of its storied wrestling program on Thursday at Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium.
The seniors — Deacon Harrison, Brodie Smith, Dane Miller, Evan Graham, Cayden Hayden, and Treshawn Crenshaw, as well as Lady Colonel Kira Caldwell — were recognized ahead of a dual match with Russellville.
“I could say so much about this senior class. The great thing about this senior class is that they all have a different story than how they got here, and that’s very unique. They’ve brought the brotherhood back to Christian County wrestling and what it means to us,” Coach Dee Leavell said. “It’s been great to see them grow from middle school. This group includes kids that we’ve had in middle school and elementary school, and some that just came out in high school and just found the love for wrestling.”
Caldwell will compete at the Girls Region I Tournament on Saturday at Union County.
The Colonels will compete at the Boys’ Region I Tournament on February 21 at Henderson County.
“We still got some work to do, and we still got some believing to do, but I like where we’re at. We’re progressing in the right training, progressing in the right direction, and now we need to finish hard,” Leavell said.
