The Christian County Colonels went into their game against University Heights Academy having won their last three, while the Blazers had lost their last three. Both streaks continued, as the Colonels got the best of UHA 75-65 on the road.

KeShawn Moore got started early for the Blazers with eight of the team’s 17 points in the first quarter. Darren Bigbee also had a solid period for the Colonels with seven, but Christian County still went down 17-15 after the first eight minutes.

The Blazers still held a two point lead halfway through the second quarter, but then an and-one from Christian County’s Franklin Pollard gave them the lead with around two minutes left. The Colonels were able to hold on to that lead and be up 31-29 going into the half.

Pollard kept it going in the third with County’s first five points of the quarter, but the Blazers kept up and tied it up at 36 points with just over five minutes left. Then a quick Colonel 6-0 run gave them the lead at a timeout halfway through the period.

That run grew all the way to 13-1, and was eventually ended by a three-pointer from UHA’s Tabor Vincent. The sophomore forward then hit another shot from beyond the arc, but that did not stop Christian County from taking a 52-43 lead into the fourth.

County kept extending their lead in the final quarter all the way to 15 with a layup from Jay Henderson with just under four minutes left. After some back and forth, UHA’s Moore and Kayn Simmons both hit threes to cut the lead to nine and force a timeout with two minutes to go.

The Blazers then started fouling to take advantage of the Colonels’ struggles at the free throw line, which got the lead down to as low as seven. But Christian County was able to survive and get the victory in their final regular season meeting ever against UHA.

The last win the Blazers got in the all-time series was in February of 2025, as the Colonels were able to get the win in their last two matchups against University Heights.

Christian County’s leading scorer in the game was Bigbee with an impressive 27 points, and he did so with 11 points when it mattered in the fourth quarter. Pollard and Rahsean Stevenson also got into double-digits with 15 and 13 points, respectively.

The Blazers’ leader was Moore with 28, and he was able to get to the rim with consistency to get his points. Hayden Hunt was the only other player for UHA in double figures, finishing with 11 of his own.

University Heights will be hoping that they can snap their four-game losing streak in their next one against the Rebels of Todd County Central on Saturday, February 14. Their game will begin at 7 p.m. at Todd County Central High School.

As for the Colonels, they will be looking for their fifth straight win in their next game on Monday, February 16, against Owensboro. That game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. at Christian County High School.
