
Keyshun Teal, seen here at the region outdoor meet in the spring, was one of two Hopkinsville athletes to set new indoor school records on Saturday.
A pair of Hopkinsville school records fell on Saturday at the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association President’s Day Weekend Invite.
The non-classed event, held at the Norton Healthcare Sports and Wellness Center in Louisville, is the largest high school indoor track meet in Kentucky.
Keyshun Teal was 8th out of 52 competitors in the 55-meter hurdles, setting a new indoor school record in 8.19 seconds. He broke his old record of 8.25 seconds set at last year’s Class 2A Indoor State Meet.
Teal was also 48th in the 55-meter dash in 6.98 seconds.
Savior Davis came in 12th place out of 118 runners in the 800 meters in a time of 2:05.15, knocking 1.11 seconds off the school record he set in the event at last year’s Class 2A State Indoor Meet.
Sophomore Willie Ennels came in 32nd place in the 55-meter dash in 6.89 seconds, just missing Brandon Etheridge’s school record of 6.84 seconds set at the 2006 Mason-Dixon Games.
Ennels was also 52nd in the 200 meters in 23.96 seconds.
Carlo Jones was 97th in the 200-meter dash in 25.17 seconds and finished 96th in the 400 meters in 59.04 seconds.
Thomas Laliberté was 112th in the 200 meters in 25.82 seconds. Laliberté also finished 76th in the 400 meters in 56.71 seconds.
Kayden Humphrey finished 26th in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.1 seconds.
Drew Thorson finished 83rd in the shot put with a heave of 25 feet 11 inches.
Tyson Cavinder finished 56th in the 800 meters in 2:18.41 and 76th in the 1600 meters in 5:11.25.
Fernando Rojas finished 143rd in the 1600 meters in 6:30.25.
Hopkinsville’s boys 800 meter relay team came in 17th place in 1:37.44, just five seconds out of 1st place. The boy’s 1600-meter relay team finished 10th in 3:49.43.
For the girls, Alexis Herrera-Lavato came in 17th place in the 800-meter run in a time of 2.36.91. The race featured 104 runners.
Lauren Mayes finished in 21st place in the 3200-meter run with a time of 13.35.58.
Kaniya Jackson Grundy finished 89th in the 55-meter dash in 8.44 seconds.
TaLaijha Cherry finished 23rd in the shot put with a toss of 26-2.75.
The KHSAA Class 2A State Indoor Track Meet will be held at the same facility on Thursday, March 5th.
