A historic night for Lyon County girls basketball Tuesday night. In a season filled with success stories, the Lady Lyons added two more to the ‘history trophy case’ during the game against Union County in Jason White Gym.
The Lady Lyons, in a game that was never close, rolled past Union County 63-14 to pick up their fourth straight win of the season.
But, the history of the night was the story of the night for the Lady Lyons. With the win, which was their 23rd win of the season, they set a new record for team wins for the Lyon County girls program. The 2006 and 2016 Lady Lyon teams had 22 wins each.
In addition, Lyon County junior Piper Cotham passed 2,000 points for her career. She becomes just the second Lady Lyon in school history to join the 2,000-point club. Saundra Oliver Ramey is the only other Lady Lyon to reach that plateau.
Lyon County (23-6) now gets ready to close out the regular season Thursday night when they host St. Mary on Senior Night.
