The schedule is now set for the 8th District basketball tournaments which will be played next week at Hopkinsville High School. The girls tournament will get underway Monday night with the boys tournament to begin play Tuesday.
Monday night will find the second-seeded Hopkinsville Lady Tigers taking on the third-seeded Fort Campbell Lady Falcons. Hopkinsville won the only matchup between the two teams this season back on December 10. The game will be played Monday evening at 6pm.
With University Heights not having a team this season and Heritage Christian deciding not to play in the tournament, Christian County is the top seed and will automatically play in the district championship game on Thursday, February 26, against the winner of Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell. The Lady Colonels are also automatically in the 2nd Region tournament.
The girls title game will be at 6pm,
On the boys’ side, action begins Tuesday night with two semifinal games. Hopkinsville will take on Fort Campbell at 5:30pm in the first semifinal. The top-seeded Tigers handily won their only game against the #4 seed Falcons during the regular season.
The second semifinal will find second-seeded Christian County battling third-seeded University Heights Academy. The Colonels beat the Blazers 75-65 in their only matchup this season on February 10 on the Blazers home court.
Tuesday night’s winners will play Friday, February 27, at 6pm for the 8th District title.
Tickets for the games will be $10, cash only at the gate.
