The Webster County Trojans are a team that many believe could make a run at the ‘big two’ in the 2nd Region as the postseason gets underway next week. The Trojans looked every bit the part Thursday night as they went on the road and dismantled the Fort Campbell Falcons 75-37.
The Trojans scored the first five points of the game only to see the Falcons respond with five of their own to make it 5-5. The Falcons were leading 9-8 in the last part of the opening quarter when the roof caved in.
Webster County went on an 11-0 run to go up 19-9. A basket at the horn from Kingston Morton temporarily stemmed the tide, but not for long.
The Trojans opened the second quarter with an 11-1 run to blow the lead out to 30-12 and effectively settle the issue at that points.
Webster County held the Falcons to just five points in the second as the lead grew to 52-16 at the half and put the running clock into play when the second half began.

The lead would be 70-32 when the third quarter ended. Both teams would only score five points in the fourth as the Trojans rode it out to the final 38-point margin.
Fort Campbell played the game without leading scorer Tyreek Anthony, who was in uniform on the bench but did not enter the game. Garrett Vannatta led the Falcons with 19 points, including three made 3-pointers. Joseph Katz added 6 points.
Webster County got 17 points from Jace Shelton. Trace Hardison added 14 points. Reid McDyer and Kohner Phelps ended up with 11 points each.
Fort Campbell (8-17) will close out the regular season Saturday at home against Fulton City.
