Riding a six-game win streak into Thursday night’s regular-season finale at Logan County, the Christian County Colonels couldn’t keep pace with the Cougars in a 76-68 defeat.
The Colonels got four points each from four players, including Rahsean Stevenson, but trailed by a point after the first quarter due in part to 12 points from Logan County’s Davis Switzer.
Stevenson added eight points in the second quarter, but just like in the opening frame, the Colonels were outscored 20-19 to trail 40-38 at the halftime break.
Stevenson stayed hot in the second half with 14 points in the third, but Logan County found a little breathing room behind eight points for Switzer to lead by seven with a quarter to play.
Switzer added seven points in the fourth to finish with a game-high 33 and help the Cougars win for the eighth time in nine outings. JB McTire added 11, and Jeremiah Washington and Maliq Ford also reached double figures with 10 points each.
Stevenson finished with 28 for the Colonels, and Zyon Wharton just missed double figures with nine.
Christian County slipped to 12-12 ahead of next week’s 5th-District tournament matchup with University Heights. The Colonels topped the Blazers by 10 points in the regular season.
Logan County improved to 18-10 and will face Todd County Central to open the 13th-District tournament on Monday.
