Donovan Rogers finished as region runner-up in the 150-pound class on Saturday and will make his first state tournament appearance this week.
Rogers missed a state qualifying spot by one place each of the past two years, but a 2-1 day on the mat saw him advance to the championship match. He lost to Union County’s Jordyn Raney, the defending state champion and a nationally ranked wrestler. However, he’s hoping that experience helps him at the state tourney.
Rogers (30-7) will meet Cameran Constant (28-7) of Fort Knox in the first round on Thursday at Alltech Arena in Lexington. He will be one of four Tigers wrestlers to compete at state.
