Caldwell County High School will soon begin a search for a new boys’ basketball head coach.
The school confirmed Thursday that Chuck Mitchell will not be returning to the Tiger bench.
In three seasons with the Tigers, Mitchell’s teams went 49-41.
Caldwell was 14-16 this season but struggled down the stretch, dropping its last four games. That includes a 74-48 setback to Madisonville-North Hopkins in the 7th District semifinals on Tuesday.
Prior to taking over the boys’ program, Mitchell coached the girls’ team at Caldwell for four seasons, going 44-66 over that time.
Mitchell, who is originally from Louisa, was an assistant coach on the Paducah Tilghman girls’ team for three seasons before taking the Caldwell job.
His previous stops also include girls’ head coaching gigs at Harlan and Livingston Central.
Mitchell remains a teacher at Caldwell County High School and continues to be the golf coach at the school.
