The Caldwell County Tiger baseball team finished up a 2-0 preseason slate with a 13-4 victory over Carlisle County Thursday night at the VFW Ballpark in Princeton.

The Tigers banged out 18 base hits in the contest.

Meanwhile, four Caldwell hurlers — Ari Wells, Channing Puckett, Scott Cortner and Drew Stevens — combined to no-hit the Comets. However, Tiger pitching did surrender eight walks while striking out 14.

Caldwell scored three runs in each of the first two innings, then added two more in the third to go up 8-0.

Carlisle got all four of its runs in the top of the fourth.

However, Caldwell countered with five runs in the home half of the fourth to make it 13-4.

Presten Alfred was 4-for-4 at the plate for Caldwell while Channing Puckett and Scott Cortner each went 3-for-4 and drove in three.

Ari Wells finished 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Derek Wilson went 2-for-4 and scored three times. Drew Stevens homered as part of a 2-for-5 day.

Earlier this week, Caldwell defeated Heritage Christian Academy 20-6 in a scrimmage contest.

The Tigers were scheduled to open the regular season on Monday with a trip to Crittenden County. However, that date has been postponed to March 30 because of the anticipated cold temperatures on Monday.
