Derrin Boyd’s next basketball stop is in New Zealand.

The former Caldwell County standout has been signed by the Franklin Bulls of the Sal’s NBL league.

The Bulls announced the addition of Boyd on Thursday for the upcoming 2026 season.

Boyd, a strong, skilled scorer, heads to Pukekohe, New Zealand, from the NBA G-League, playing with the College Park Skyhawks in Georgia.

Boyd is expected to be one of the key offensive weapons for the Bulls this season.

“Derrin is coming to Franklin after a stellar college career and a strong rookie season in the G-League. He is a versatile offensive threat as a true three level scorer. Just as important, Derrin will provide competitive fire and leadership to our young group. We can’t wait to get Derrin to Pukekohe,” said Franklin Bulls head coach Dan Ryan.

Boyd was selected 38th overall (7th pick of the second round) in the 2025 NBA G-League Draft by the Santa Cruz Warriors. He later joined the College Park Skyhawks, where he currently plays.

The Franklin Bulls begin their season next month.

The National Basketball League is the pre-eminent men’s basketball league in New Zealand.

The inaugural NBL season took place in 1982. The league features 11 teams for the 2026 season.

Boyd is a 2019 Caldwell grad and is fourth on the Tigers’ all-time scoring list.

He played five seasons of college basketball, with stops at Georgetown College, Lipscomb University and College of Charleston.
