The Lyon County Lyons baseball team traveled to Murray, KY to face off against the Lakers of Calloway County in their final scrimmage before the start of the regular season. Unfortunately for them, Calloway was able to take advantage of their home field and get the 6-4 win.

Payson Oliver got the start on the hill for the Lyons, and pitched the first three innings of the six-inning game the team played. He racked up five strikeouts while allowing just two hits in his three innings of work.

Tanner Anderson also made quite the impression on the mound as well for Lyon, tallying five strikeouts in just 1.2 innings. This means that all of the outs that he got came by way of the punch out.

As far as the offense went, Lyon came away with three hits on the day. Carson Lewis, Cohen Wiggins, and Troy Dorman got the base knocks, with Dorman coming away with the team’s lone RBI.

Lyon County will kick off their regular season against the Maroons of Madisonville-North Hopkins on Monday, March 16. If the weather permits, first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Madisonville-North Hopkins High School.
