
Hopkinsville had three individual wins and three relay victories as part of a fifth-place finish at Saturday’s season-opening Henderson County Colonel Classic.
Keyshun Teal led the Tigers in the hurdle events with a pair of first-place finishes. Teal won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.61 and later captured the 300-meter hurdles in 42.88.
Savior Davis won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.37, while teammate LaMareon Jeffers finished seventh in the event in 2:18.11. Tyson Cavinder added a top-10 finish in the distance events, placing 10th in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:03.34.
Kayden Humphrey placed third in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.71 and finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.69. Thomas Laliberte added a third-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles in 46.40.
In the sprint events, Thomas Laliberte finished ninth in the 100-meter dash in 11.96, while Kyrien Cannon placed 14th in 12.24 and Kayden Humphrey was 20th in 12.61.
Willie Ennels recorded the Tigers’ top finish in the 200-meter dash, placing seventh in 23.78. Laliberte finished 10th in 24.29, and Mekhi Manning Lewis was 22nd in 28.50. Carlo Jones placed eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.92.
The Tigers won the 800-meter relay in 1:33.78, captured the 1600-meter relay in 3:41.19, and finished first in the 4×800-meter relay with a time of 9:02.10.
Willie Ennels finished 11th in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 10.25 inches.
Drew Thorson competed in both throwing events for the Tigers. He finished 21st in the discus with a throw of 76 feet, 4 inches, and placed 23rd in the shot put with a mark of 28 feet, 11 inches.
As a team, Hopkinsville finished in fifth place with 78 points, two points behind fourth-place Apollo and 30 points ahead of sixth-place Christian County.
