
University Heights Academy came in ninth place at Saturday’s season-opening Caldwell County 1st Flight Invitational.
The Blazers recorded several top-10 finishes in distance and mid-distance races. Jude Finch placed fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.98 and later finished seventh in the 1,600 meters (5:18.82) and eighth in the 3,200 meters (12:00.34).
Lucas Stine placed 12th in the 800 meters (2:38.28) and 17th in the 1,600 meters (6:06.77).
In the sprints, Zech Davis finished eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.89 and placed seventh in the 400 meters in 58.86.
Ronan Croney-Salllie placed fifth in the 400 meters (57.77). Scar Venable finished 17th in the 100-meter dash (13.50), while Hayden Hayes placed 22nd in both the 100 meters (14.14) and 200 meters (29.20).
Jack Cavanah finished 15th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.64.
The Blazers finished fourth in the 1600-meter relay with a time of 4:04.25.
Callen Bowe led the Blazers in the throws with an 18th-place finish in the shot put at 31-6.5 and placed 24th in the discus at 59-8. Brock Kilijian finished 21st in the discus (66-3) and 20th in the shot put (30-10.5). Trent Simmons placed 23rd in the discus (60-1) and 28th in the shot put (26-5.5).
Ronan Croney-Salllie finished sixth in both the long jump (17-2) and the triple jump (36-4). Jack Conrad placed 12th in the long jump with a mark of 15-2.
As a team, the Blazers scored 12.5 points, finishing ahead of Hopkins County Central and 7.5 points behind Marshall County.
