
Easton Bourland began the 2026 season with a pair of wins at the Caldwell County 1st Flight Invitational on Saturday.
The Dawson Springs junior won both the 800-meter run and the 1,600-meter run. Bourland captured the 800 meters in 2:10.32 and later won the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:41.83.
Chase Miles finished 14th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.98, while Ethan Slaton placed 17th in 1:04.73 and Logan Chappel finished 18th in 1:06.57.
In the sprints, Gabriel Gospodarek placed 19th in the 100-meter dash in 13.55 and finished 14th in the 200 meters in 27.85. Lucas Lowe placed 23rd in the 100 meters in 14.19, while Colton Wheeler finished 26th in 15.43. Chappel added a 23rd-place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 29.95.
Matthew Stanley placed 16th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:44.88, while Raymond Gibson finished 17th in 2:46.24. Levi Holt placed 12th in the 1,600 meters in 5:36.26 and later finished ninth in the 3,200 meters in 12:45.98.
In the hurdles, Mayson Howard finished eighth in the 110-meter hurdles in 25.02 and later placed 10th in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.72. Chandler Anderson added a fifth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles in 50.59.
Dawson Springs had several relay teams compete, highlighted by a third-place finish in the 1600-meter relay with a time of 4:01.91.
The Panthers also finished fourth in the 3200-meter relay in 10:40.68. The 800-meter relay team placed seventh in 1:57.08, while the 400-meter relay team finished eighth with a time of 53.13.
Jacob Hines led the Panthers in the throwing events, finishing 15th in the discus with a throw of 82-10 and placing 13th in the shot put with a mark of 33-0.
Lucas Lowe placed 28th in the discus with a throw of 52-7 and finished 30th in the shot put at 18-6. Caleb Esposito recorded a 30th-place finish in the discus with a throw of 39-3.
Ethan Slaton won the high jump with a clearance of 5-10, while Chase Miles finished second after clearing 5-8. Lucus Duke added a seventh-place finish with a height of 4-10.
Matthew Stanley placed 10th in the long jump with a mark of 15-9, while Gospodarek finished 16th at 13-7.
In the triple jump, Cooper Burge finished seventh with a leap of 34-1.
Dawson Springs finished in fourth place as a team with 51 points, 11 points more than Madisonville-North Hopkins and 32 points behind third-place Clarksville Northwest.
