
Union County opened the 2026 outdoor track and field season on Saturday at the Caldwell County 1st Flight Invitational. The Braves produced a sixth-place finish.
Thomas Davis and Tristan Coy highlighted the Braves’ distance performances. Davis won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:32.20 and placed third in the 1,600 meters in 4:50.81. Coy finished second in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:45.66 and placed fifth in the 800 meters in 2:24.16.
In the 800 meters, Henry Humphrey finished 15th with a time of 2:44.79. Braden Todd placed 10th in the 400-meter dash in 59.85 and later finished 18th in the 800 meters with a time of 3:00.06.
Weston Lee recorded a 14th-place finish in the 100-meter dash in 12.74 and placed ninth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.21. A’miere Utley finished 13th in the 200 meters (27.77) and 12th in the 400 meters (1:01.84). Asher Vinson placed 17th in the 200 meters at 28.20.
The Braves earned a third-place finish in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 10:12.58.
Caedyn Word led Union County in the throwing events, finishing 10th in the shot put with a mark of 36 feet. Jack Clifton placed 12th with a throw of 34-6.5.
Cale Johnson had a strong showing in the jumps, placing fourth in both the high jump (5-2) and the long jump (17-11). Owen Kennada finished ninth in the long jump with a mark of 16-0.
Union County totaled 38.33 points, sandwiched between fifth-place Madisonville-North Hopkins (40) and seventh-place Mayfield (24).
Meanwhile, the Bravettes came in seventh place.
They totaled 25 points, which was four points ahead of Madisonville-North Hopkins and nine points behind sixth-place Mayfield.
Addiston Thomas led the Bravettes in the distance events, finishing second in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 15:58.88 and placing fourth in the 1,600 meters in 8:21.65.
In the middle-distance races, AdaBelle Hunter finished sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:12.28, followed closely by Addison Dossett in seventh at 3:14.23. Audrey Burgess placed fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:11.90, while Celia Martinez finished seventh in 1:12.95.
In the sprints, Rosella Greenwell recorded a seventh-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 30.39. Natalie Burgess placed 21st in the 100 meters (15.88) and 17th in the 200 meters (33.31), while Emelie Reinmuth finished 23rd in both the 100 meters (16.99) and the 200 meters (35.86).
Union County placed second in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 12:02.78. The Bravettes also finished fifth in the 800-meter relay in 2:04.51.
