Warren East jumped out to a 6-0 lead and then rolled on to an 8-3 win over Todd County Central in a delayed season opener for the Lady Rebels.

The Lady Raider bats were clicking in this one as Warren East finished the evening with 14 hits.

Warren East got RBI singles in the top of the third and the top of the fourth to take a 2-0 lead. The Lady Raiders followed that up with a four-run top of the fifth. The big hit in the inning was a two-run double from junior Ada Childress, as the lead grew to 6-0.

Naomi Welborn drove in a run for the Lady Rebels with a single to left in the bottom of the 6th inning to cut the lead to 6-1.

Warren East responded with a pair of insurance runs in the top of the 7th to push the lead out to 8-1.

Todd County Central got back-to-back RBI singles from Addison Woodall and Olivia Weikel in the bottom of the seventh but that would be the end of any late game rally.

Woodall finished the game 3-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Weikel and Welborn had the other two hits for the Lady Rebels in the game. Each of the three finished with one RBI.

In the circle, Weikel got the start and went 6 ⅓ innings, giving up 8 runs on 14 hits, striking out eight and walking none.

Todd County Central (0-1) is set to be back in action Thursday night on the road at Hopkinsville.
