TySean Thomeczek homered and two Logan County pitchers combined to hold visiting Madisonville-North Hopkins to only three hits in a 4-0 Cougar victory on Thursday. The Maroons dropped their opener while Logan County bounced back after a 2-0 loss to Greenwood 24 hours earlier.
Ryder Sandidge, Alex Richards, and Evan Wilson each had a hit for the Maroons, but they came up empty after loading the bases in both the 3rd and 5th innings.
Thomeczek’s solo shot to lead off the bottom of the 3rd put the Cougars in front 3-0, and that was all starting pitcher Brody Bush would need to pick up the win. Bush allowed two hits with three walks and four strikeouts over four frames.
Blake Prow took the loss for the Maroons, surrendering four runs, three earned, on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts over five innings. Gauge Clark worked the 6th, striking out two.
Madisonville will look to bounce back at home on Friday against McLean County. The Cougars were 6-0 winners over Todd County Central in their opener.
