The Lyon County Lady Lyons softball team went into their road game against the Lady Lakers of Calloway County looking for their fourth straight win to start the season. They were able to do exactly that, and they did so in dominant 13-3 fashion.

Calloway County struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning, but that was the last time Lyon’s pitching allowed the Lady Lakers to score until the final inning.

Three straight innings went by with the Lady Lyon scoring multiple runs and Calloway putting up zeroes on the scoreboard, as Lyon’s offense was absolutely on fire with 14 hits over the course of the game.

Lyon went into the home half of the sixth inning up by 12 runs, and since Calloway was only able to score two, that meant the game was called due to mercy rule with the final score of 13-3.

Brooklyn Tackett got the start on the mound for the Lady Lyons, and was able to pitch all six innings of the game. She allowed just three runs and gave up just one walk on her way to the win and a pair of strikeouts.

As for the offense, Jenna Coursey and Audrey Akridge both came away with three-hit days, with Akridge having a pair of RBIs. Maddie Perry, Emma Brasher, Olivia Moore, and Jaylen and Brooklyn Tackett also all got two runs batted in apiece.

Lyon County will be looking for their fifth straight win to start the season, something they have not done since the 2008 season when they won six in a row at the beginning of the year. They will get the chance to do this on Tuesday, March 24, against the Lady Mustangs of McCracken County.

First pitch of their game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at McCracken County High School.
