Late Rally Carries Lady Maroons Past Ohio County

Four players had at least two RBIs and the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons scored 9 straight runs to come from behind and take a 12-6 road win at Ohio County Monday night.

The Lady Maroons trailed 5-3 going into the top of the fifth when the rally got underway.

Maggie Killough singled to center with two outs to score Sadie Kirk, who had reached earlier in the inning on one of two Lady Eagle errors in the inning, to trim the lead to 5-4.

Kylie Watkins send a two-run shot over the left field fence in the top of the sixth inning to give the Lady Maroons the lead at 6-5.

Madisonville then put the game away with six more runs in the top of the seventh inning. Aubrey Guill got the big inning started with a one-out homer to centerfield.

Guill finished the game 2-5 with two home runs and 3 RBIs. Maggie Killough, Sydney Skeen, and Kylie Watkins also had two hits each for the Lady Maroons. Skeen, Killough, and Watkins also had two RBIs each.

In the circle, Tinley Paxton went six innings, giving up five runs, just two of them earned, on six hits, striking out 12 and walking four. Sadie Kirk closed out the game in the bottom of the seventh, giving up one unearned run, striking out three and walking two.

Madisonville-North Hopkins (2-2) hosts Caldwell County in a 7th District matchup Tuesday night.
