Trigg County nearly pulled off a fourth straight comeback win to start the 2026 softball season, but the McCracken County Lady Mustangs were able to hold on for an 8-6 win over the Lady Wildcats on Monday at Ralph Thomas Field.
Trigg had trailed in each of its first three wins and again had to play from behind against the Lady Mustangs.
McCracken struck for three runs in the second inning when Kennedy Brewer doubled off the center field fence to score a pair of runs and later scored on an infield hit by Skylar Clark.

Trigg got a run back when Lily Eagleson took a 3-1 pitch from Addley Leidecker over the left field fence in the home half of the second.
Ava Knight smacked a deep home run to right field – her second of the season – to push the McCracken lead to 6-1 in the third inning.
Alyssa Knight added an RBI single later in the frame for a 7-1 Lady Mustang lead.

Trigg answered with five runs in the home half of the third. Jayden Visingardi singled, and MaKenna Hendricks and Veyda Grinols followed with doubles to plate two runs.
Livia Breckel had an RBI double, and Tember Oliver added an RBI single to get Trigg to within 7-5 and chase Leidecker from the game.
Addison Dudley entered to pitch for McCracken County, and Maddie Smith punched a single to right to score Trigg’s fifth run of the inning.
Dudley settled down to retire nine of the next 11 Trigg batters, while Eagleson was able to pitch around some trouble and keep McCracken off the board. She was helped by a fifth inning double play and a sixth inning groundout with the bases loaded.
Brewer gave McCracken a needed insurance run in the seventh inning with a single to center field.
Trigg looked to mount one final rally when Kady Fuller hit a two-out double to center field. However, Alyssa Knight made a nice sliding catch in right field off a Breckel line drive to end the game.
Brewer finished with two hits and three RBI for the Lady Mustangs, who improved to 4-0. Kinley Dowdy added three singles and a run as part of McCracken’s 13-hit effort.

Eagleson and Fuller each had two hits, and Grinols had a pair of RBI.
Dudley (2-0) scattered four hits over 4.1 innings and allowed one earned run. Leidecker opened with five earned runs allowed in 2.2 innings. McCracken pitchers didn’t walk or strike out a Trigg batter.
Eagleson pitched five innings in relief of Ady Holley (1-1), giving up four earned runs with a strikeout.
McCracken County will host Lyon County on Tuesday, while Trigg County will play at Calloway County in a Class 2A Sectional game on Tuesday in Murray.
