SPOTLIGHT ATHLETE – Cam McCormick

Cam McCormick wasn’t exactly adept on his feet as a young soccer player, so coaches made the move to make him a goalie. The rest became history as the Trigg County senior will continue to play soccer in college at Brescia University.

McCormick signed with the Owensboro school last week, marking another chapter in a career that has seen him continue to reach improvement markers through high school.

McCormick anchored a Trigg County defense that put together one of the best defensive seasons in program history. Trigg allowed just 21 goals – tied for the third fewest in school history and three away from the school record.

The team also allowed just 1.4 goals per game, the seventh-best mark in program history.

McCormick averaged seven saves a game and 1.4 goals per game. As a junior, he averaged 10 saves and 2.4 goals allowed per game.

After the soccer season, McCormick played for the TCHS basketball team and was one of the first players off the bench for Michael Fraliex’s squad.
