Falcons Tie for Seventh Place at Kirkwood’s Cobra Classic

Fort Campbell tied for seventh place at Saturday’s Kirkwood Cobra Classic in Clarksville, highlighted by runner-up finishes in two relay events and a pair of top-five individual finishes in the field for the Falcons.

Running Events

Fort Campbell’s relay teams posted some of the team’s top finishes of the day, led by second-place efforts in both the 3200-meter relay and the 1600-meter relay. The Falcons also placed fifth in the distance medley relay, eighth in the 400-meter relay, ninth in the 1000-meter sprint medley relay, and 10th in the 800-meter relay.

In individual track events, Levi Kruse placed sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.75. Aiden Ward also competed in the 100-meter dash and placed 18th in preliminaries at 12.11, while Antonio Rivera was 39th in prelims with a time of 12.88.

In the middle-distance races, Andrew Bennett placed 11th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.10. Lincoln Wilbur was 16th in the 800 in 2:20.79, and Liam Voelkel finished 30th in 2:31.64. Tobias Flynn added an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.94, while Francisco Ramirez was 22nd in 57.82.

In the distance events, Jayden Perry turned in one of the Falcons’ best track finishes with a fifth-place run in the 3200-meter run in 10:56.92. Alexander Heinrich was ninth in the 3200 in 12:00.64, and Laynee Barbee placed 12th in 12:15.82.

Seth Puraty finished 10th in the 1600-meter run in 5:17.82, while Heinrich added a 16th-place finish in the 1600 at 5:30.20.

In the hurdles, Brody Dunn placed 21st in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.24, followed by Miguel Oranday in 26th at 51.23 and Laynee Barbee in 28th at 55.14.

Jumping Events

Fort Campbell’s jumping events were highlighted by Wade’s fourth-place finish in the high jump at 5-6.

Seth Puraty placed sixth in the pole vault after clearing 7-6, while Kalub Horton finished 12th in the high jump at 5-0.

Robert Charles placed 18th in the long jump with a leap of 15-7, while Micah Castillo was 27th at 12-1. Jeremiah Davis added a 12th-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 33-4.

Throwing Events

Carolina delivered Fort Campbell’s top field event performance of the meet, taking third in the discus with a throw of 134-9. He also placed eighth in the shot put with a mark of 36-10.

Antonio Rivera added a 21st-place finish in the discus at 97-1, while Andrew McWherter was 38th in the event with a throw of 71-3.

In the shot put, Michael Velghe placed 34th with a throw of 27-11, and Gavin McWherter finished 43rd with a mark of 18-7.5.

Fort Campbell’s team score of 47 points tied them for seventh place with West Creek.
