The University Heights Blazers were winners of six straight games going into their matchup with Daviess County on the road on Tuesday evening. Despite not being at home, UHA was able to keep that streak going with a 6-2 victory.
University Heights struck first in the top of the second inning with a single from Bryson Turner, but the Panthers were able to quickly answer with an RBI single of their own in the following inning.
The Blazers scored five unanswered runs to take control of the game and take a 6-1 lead. Daviess County scored a run in the bottom of the seventh with another single, but it was too little too late, and the Blazers were able to get the win to keep their streak going.
Hayden Hunt got the start for the Blazers and pitched the first three innings. He allowed four hits but just one run on his way to five strikeouts. Ryan Luckey also had five punch outs, and he did so while allowing just one hit in four innings of work.
At the plate, Aiden Jones and Jackson Flynn led the way for the Blazers with a pair of hits each. Hunt, Turner, Luckey, and Cadence Gibson were able to get the team’s other four RBIs.
The team will be looking for their eighth win in a row in their next one on Thursday, April 2, against the Cougars of Logan County. First pitch of their game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at University Heights Academy.
