After beating the Webster County Lady Trojans in commanding fashion earlier in the day, the Lyon County Lady Lyons played their second game of the day on Saturday against Trinity.

While it wasn’t the most offense-filled game, Lyon County was able to take advantage of their home field and get the 1-0 victory.

Lyon got the lone run of the game in the bottom of the third inning with a single from Audrey Akridge to make it 1-0. While this was the only scoring that happened in the game, there were more hits than just that one for the Lady Lyons.

Akridge had two of the team’s four hits, while Olivia Moore had the other two. Jaylen Tackett was also able to get on base with a walk in the bottom of the fourth inning.

But it was the team’s pitching that really shined in the win.

Ava Prow pitched all seven innings for the Lady Lyons, and she racked up nine strikeouts in that time. She did allow a baserunner in the bottom of the seventh, but she was able to get the ground ball that the team needed to close out the game and get their 10th win in their last 11 games.

They will be looking for their third win in a row in their next one on Tuesday, April 14, against the Lady Rockets of Crittenden County. First pitch of that game will be at 5:30 p.m. at Lee S. Jones Park in Lyon County.
