The Fort Campbell baseball team went into their game against Russellville having won their last game by way of a mercy rule against the Dawson Springs Panthers. Unfortunately for the Falcons, they were not able to start a win streak, as Russellville was able to go on the road and get the 7-3 win.
The Panthers scored as soon as they could in the top of the first inning, but Fort Campbell answered right back by scoring on a wild pitch. Russellville followed it up with two more in the second, and the Falcons scored another to make it 3-2.
Russellville didn’t want to let the Falcons into the game, and they scored two more runs in the fourth, and another two in the sixth.
Fort Campbell scored one more run in the bottom of the sixth on a Panthers error, but it was too little too late, and Russellville was able to close it out for the win.
Corey Baker started on the mound for the Falcons and pitched the first four innings while tallying five strikeouts. Cohen Brunner then came in and also struck out six batters of his own.
At the plate, Fort Campbell’s two base knocks came from Michael Anderson and Joseph Katz.
The Falcons will get one more chance in the regular season to get back in the win column, and they will get that chance against the Dawson Springs Panthers on Thursday, May 14. Their game will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Dawson Springs Tradewater Park.
