Two-time 2nd Region Player of the Year Olivia Mitchell signed Monday to continue her volleyball career at Georgetown College.

Mitchell, an outside hitter at Caldwell County, has been a first-team all-state selection each of the past two years by the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association. She was honorable mention all-state as a sophomore.

A signing ceremony was held in the Fine Arts Theatre at CCHS.

Mitchell helped the Lady Tigers win the 2nd Region championship this past season for the first time since 2011.

Caldwell lost to McCracken County in the first round of the state tournament.

The Lady Tigers went 19-6 in a COVID-shortened 2020 season.

Mitchell led Caldwell with 468 kills in 2020 and was second on the team in digs with 237.

Mitchell finished her high school career with 1,917 kills, 1,050 digs and 241 aces. She owns Lady Tiger all-time marks for kills and digs.

Meanwhile, Georgetown is 2-0 after a pair of wins over the weekend as the “2020” season got underway. The Tigers next host Campbellsville in the Mid-South Conference opener on Monday, Feb. 15.

Felicia Pace is in her third season as head coach at Georgetown. The Tigers went 19-13 each of the past two years.

Pace was an assistant coach at Georgetown from 2014-17 and was head coach at Shelby County High School from 2001-14.

Olivia is the daughter of Gary and Marla Mitchell.
