The Todd County Central Lady Rebels appear to be finding their stride a bit as Christmas approaches. The Lady Rebels made it back-to-back wins Monday as they got by Hopkins County Central 47-41 in the DQ Classic at Ohio County High School.
The Lady Rebels had their struggles coming out of the gate, scoring only six points in the opening quarter as Hopkins Central took the 13-6 lead.
Todd County cranked up the defense in the second quarter. The Lady Rebels limited the Lady Storm to just two field goals in the second as Todd Central came back to tie the game at 18-18 at the break.
Led by Lucy Chester, Alexis Taylor, and Abby Williams, Todd County Central would move to the lead in the third quarter. When the quarter ended the Lady Rebels were up 33-29 as the game headed into the final eight minutes.
Down the stretch, it became a free-throw shooting contest for the Lady Rebels. Todd County Central would hit 10 of 16 free throws in the final quarter to fend off any chance of a Hopkins Central comeback.
It was a big game for Alexis Taylor, who finished with 21 points. Abby Williams was also in double figures with 14.
Hopkins Central was paced by E.J. Jones with 12 points. Brooklyn Clark added 11 for the Lady Storm.
With the win, the Lady Rebels improve to 3-4 on the year. Hopkins Central drops to 4-2.
