
Miller Career Academy got 20 points and six rebounds from Charles Nelson while defeating Huffman 59-50 Tuesday at the West Kentucky Hoops Classic in Princeton.
The St. Louis school also got 15 points and nine rebounds from Mario Slaughter in finishing the event with a 1-1 record.
Nelson was the Player of the Game for the Phoenix, which led 24-23 at halftime and 39-35 through three quarters.
Huffman, from Birmingham, Ala., got 14 points from Christopher Blount along with 12 points and 10 rebounds from Michael Johnson. Johnson was the Vikings’ Player of the Game.
Miller Career Academy was 15 of 21 at the free throw stripe in the contest while Huffman was just 3 of 12 at the charity stripe.
